Derrick Screen Pilot-Scale Testing
In August 2020, Institute TOMS (Irkutsk) in partnership with Thrane Teknikk initiated testing of a fine screening technology using Derrick Stack Sizer 2SG 48-60R-1STK by Derrick Corporation (USA). The testing is run at screen aperture sizes starting from 45 µm.
The sizer installed in Institute’s TOMS lab corresponds fully to commercial units in terms of its characteristics, which allows fine screening parameters to be one-to-one scaled up. Moreover, high specific throughput of the screen and high efficiency of the resulting separation make it possible to conduct pilot-scale tests and produce sized products for any further process testworks.
Stack Sizer type screens are widely recognized in mining and processing industries and applied as classifying equipment within ore comminution and mid-products regrinding circuits as well as for preparation of the material to be fed to wet magnetic separation, flotation and other process operations.
