Institute TOMS became a title sponsor of the International Conference “Plaksin Readings – 2023” which was held in Moscow on October 2nd – 5th.
September 11, 2023, the President of Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, took part in launching two landmark mining projects. They are Stage II of the gold plant within Pavlik mining and processing complex, and the concentrator plant of Udokan mining and metallurgical complex. Both projects were implemented on the basis of the process solutions developed by Institute TOMS.
In December 2022 Institute TOMS successfully proved its expertise for compliance with requirements GOST ISO/IEC 17025-2019 “General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories”

An official ceremony marking the commissioning of a concentrate beneficiation facility took place on the 17th of November 2022 at the Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK (Metalloinvest). Construction of the new beneficiation facility was fulfilled based on the process design criteria and engineering design developed by Institute TOMS (a member of Technopark of INRTU). The facility will produce various types of concentrate with iron content up to 71% and a low silica content. Overall production capacity is expected to be up to 16.4 Mtpa.
The beneficiation facility incorporated a patented process involving fine screening, regrinding, and flotation. Major equipment includes 24 high-speed screens, 3 energy-efficient vertical ball mills, and 58 pneumatic-mechanical flotation cells.
The launch of the facility allows upgrade of the iron concentrate and its subsequent use for production of improved blast furnace pellets and DR-grade pellets for plating. The high grade of the concentrate will enable consumers to reduce emissions from such steel-making processes as “blast furnace – converter” – by 7-19% and “metallurgical electric furnace” – by 47%. The expand of the product line will assist in bringing the Andrey Varichev Mikhailovsky GOK to the top world league of iron-ore raw materials manufacturers. It will also widen export opportunities and strengthen the company’s positions on the Russian market.
Construction of the new facility started in 2020. According to Metalloinvest’s website (https://www.metalloinvest.com/en/media/press-releases/709261/) investments in the project amounted to over 15 billion roubles and 108 new jobs were created.
At the official opening ceremony, the team of Institute TOMS was awarded medals for invaluable contribution in advancing production at Mikhailovsky GOK.
