The Central Commission of Federal Agency for Mineral Resources on development of solid mineral deposits gave its approval to the design documentation for Udokan project
The Central Commission of Federal Agency for Mineral Resources (Rosnedra) on development of solid mineral deposits gave its approval to the design documentation “Technical design for primary processing of mineral resources (process flowsheet) from Udokan deposit. License No. ЧИТ 14956 ТЭ” developed by Institute TOMS. The approval was registered in Minutes No. 152/19-стп of the meeting held by the Rosnedra Central Commission in August 13, 2019.
Udokan deposit is the largest deposit in Russia and the third largest untapped in the world in terms of copper reserves (about 24.6 Mt). Complications of the deposit development are related mostly with its location in the permafrost zone and earthquake-prone region.
